It is with immense pride and a sense of purpose that we present Viksit Bharat 2047: The Role of Public Libraries in Preserving Indian Knowledge Systems and Integrating NEP 2020. This volume, emerging from the International Conference on Viksit Bharat 2047, organized by the Ashok Goel Library and the Centre for Human Sciences at Rishihood University, aims to advance scholarly discourse on the transformative role of libraries in India’s development journey as the nation approaches its centenary of independence in 2047. Public and community libraries have long served as custodians of knowledge and centres for learning. Their potential, however, extends far beyond the traditional role of book repositories. Libraries are now vital engines of social change, cultural preservation, lifelong learning, and digital innovation. This volume explores their evolving significance, aligning them with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which advocates for integrating India’s rich knowledge systems into the contemporary educational landscape.
